A heartwarming celebration took place at the Bexar County Courthouse this month as Dominique and Destiny Gonzales legally completed the adoption process for Mateo and Layne. The adoption process was finalized in a joyful ceremony surrounded by family and friends, marking the start of a new chapter in their lives.
Dominique, beaming with pride, said, “We are so relieved and no longer scared, that these babies we love so much, are finally ours and no one can ever come and take them or change that.”
The couple first took in the siblings from a relative in January of 2022 and immediately formed a special bond. The adoption process, which can be lengthy and complex, was navigated with the help of dedicated professionals at the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
“For all the family here, just remember this moment when they call you for free babysitting,” said the honorable Judge Kimberly Burley, who presided over the ceremony. The children were gifted plushie toys as a keepsake for the special day.
As Dominique and Destiny left the courthouse it was clear that their love and commitment to each other and their new babies would continue to flourish in their new life together. Their story is a reminder of the power of family and the joy that adoption can bring.
