The Bexar County Green Party is excited to announce its upcoming Nominating Convention scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The convention will take place at Brick at Blue Star, located at 108 Blue Star, San Antonio, TX 78204.
The primary objective of the convention is to nominate candidates to represent the Green Party on the November 2024 general election ballot, in accordance with section 181 of the Texas Election Code. All eligible Bexar County voters who did not participate in the March 5 Democrat/Republican primary election are cordially invited to participate in this democratic process and cast their ballot to nominate our Green candidates.
“This convention marks a significant moment for our party and for the voters of Bexar County,” remarked Antonio Díaz, co-chair of the Bexar County Green Party. “It’s an opportunity for our community to come together and to vote for a better future by nominating candidates who embody the shared values of the Green Party: peace, environmental wisdom, social justice, and grassroots democracy.”
The convention promises to be an empowering and inclusive gathering that will foster active participation and civic engagement among residents of Bexar County. In addition to voting, delegates will be selected to the county convention to be held on March 16 and to the state convention on April 13. Attendees can also anticipate insightful and engaging conversations and speeches by community members and local activists on critically important topics that resonate with the Green Party’s core principles.
“We encourage all eligible voters who share our vision for a more just, equitable, and sustainable future to join us at the convention,” added Dr. Julián Villarreal, a Green Party volunteer. “The two-party system no longer responds to the critical needs of working class people, and that is why we urgently need to build a viable alternative through grassroots organizing and People Power.”
