Familia y musica can be found in any San Anto home. For Tejano Artist, Demmi Garcia, it’s a calling. Nieta de well-respected singer/songwriter Hermelinda Escamilla-Almanza, y sobrina de four-time Grammy nominated Tejano Star Elsa Garcia, Demmi Garcia continues to run the Tejano marathon her familia set in her path. Many members in her familia are running right by her side in a beautiful family tradition.
With two new singles out now: “Nada De Ti” with Shelly Lares, Sonja De La Paz, and Monica Saldivar and “Con Tu Amor” ft. David Lee Garza (which you can find on Spotify and other music streaming platforms), we can look forward to hearing and enjoying Garcia’s musical talents.
Garcia hopes to “keep the genre alive and well for generations to come….we want to keep the authenticity, but we want to see the genre grow.”
Due to her musical roots, Garcia has seen the importance and need for collaborative efforts in the industry. She wishes to spread out to different genres, and write and produce for other talents as well.
“We’re fighting with each other and not against each other, that’s what I think is going to turn the genre to where it needs to be. It’s the support between artists, the support between not just the artists, but every trade in the event industry,” Garcia states.
As a mother, sister, daughter, songwriter, and an amazing Tejano talent, Garcia has had to wear many hats and learned to take on responsibilities for herself. Nothing is ever handed to us, so she continues to learn and work to develop and grow as an artist.
“If you don’t know how to do it, learn how to do it, so you don’t have to ask anyone to do it for you. That’s the only way it’s going to work. You can’t wait around for other people,” Garcia adds.
“Just work for it, learn everything that you can, and learn it the best you can,” Garcia advises.
Beautiful palabras to live by, gente.
