Dedicated to Jason Mendez. Though he would not win the battle of addiction, he will not be defined by it.
Big Brother,
“When it rains, it pours”…and I’m sorry that I never understood
the Drenching Rain Storms that chased Your path and convoluted Your vision,
the Tormenting Tornadoes which uprooted Your living Trees of Life, or the Impulsive Tsunamis’ violent waves that stole Your dreams of sobriety and health.
Big Brother,
“When it rains, it pours”…and I’m sorry that I never understood that You could not navigate through the Heavy Waters with a broken compass, and that I was never a Safe Harbor sheltering you from the trenches which
bore your addiction.
Now, Big Brother,
free from the Hurricanes which ravaged your soul on this plane, You never again have to journey through the Raging Waters of this life.
Now, Big Brother,
You are the Vibrant Dragonfly building Your heaven near Still Waters. I seek the knowledge You leave in each Gentle Ripple. As your Warrior Spirit glides with the majestic Hummingbird,
Feasting on the sweet nectar of paradise, I thank Mother Earth for letting me know You now.
Dear Brother,
The Moon and the Stars will forever hold your memory for us.Your Constellation, infinitely fixed in my Night Sky guides me out of the Darkness. Your Starshine, an ancestral mix of love and light, leads me out of the Threatening Thunderstorms which plague my Universe, to a place where I am whole again.
Dear Brother,
Your Living Waters nourish my Roots. These dry bones will rise each day to a new Sun. And I now know that my absolution lies in You.
