George L. Garcia (84) was born June 20, 1937 in San Antonio,Tx. He went to be with our Lord on September 25, 2021 in San Antonio,Tx. He was preceded in death by his parents; Manuel and Concepcion Gamboa and wife, Peggy R. Garcia. He is survived by his loving children,Jessie R. Garcia(Diana), JoAnn Garcia(Ralph), June G. Duran (David), Janie G. Hernandez ( Arnold), George R. Garcia Jr. (Rita), Jeannette R. Garcia and Johnny Garcia (Becky); 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was a member of the Iron Workers Local Union #66 and the Holy Name Society at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. George was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and the Texas Rangers. He also enjoyed coaching his children in baseball and softball, having won several city championships and played softball in the senior division for many years. However his greatest joy was watching his grandkids play various sports. One of his proudest achievements was serving in the United States Army for 17 years. He fought for his country in the Korean War and retired as a Sergeant. George was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
