As our region undergoes colder temperatures during the early months in the year, residents in the Alamo Region, especially those of low-income households, often including older adults do not have a safe and reliable source of heat in their homes. AACOG’s Warm Hearts, Warm Homes (heater) program affords seniors 60 and older, considered of low-income status, and who do not have a reliable source of heat the opportunity to qualify to receive a space heater.

The Aging Services program with AACOG works closely with community partners such as the Gonzaba Foundation to secure donations for the purchase of heaters. The heaters are then distributed to residents in the 13 county region.

La Prensa Texas Community Liaison Ramon Chapa Jr attended a recent event at the Claude Black Center. A special thanks to Fernanda Cardenas of the Gonzaba Foundation for assisting with the heaters.
