With initial funding from IBM, Ernest Z. Robles founded the national Hispanic scholarship fund  (NHSF)  in 1975 with help from Archbishop Patrick Flores and Paul Sedillo. In the first year, Robles offered $30,000 in scholarships to 115 students.

Today, the NHSF has awarded over $25 million to 26,327 student and is supported by corporate sponsors, including General Electric, Anheuser-Busch and Eastman Kodak.

Under the leadership of Robles, thousands of Hispanic students have embarked on productive career paths. With statistics showing Hispanics still under-represented in universities, Robles is determined to continue to provide scholarships to outstanding Hispanic students who represent our future leaders.
