A ceremony officially opening the Bexar County Department of Military and Veterans Services satellite office at Wayland Baptist University – San Antonio took place at 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 17 at 8300 Pat Booker Rd, Live Oak, TX 78233. A community resource fair was also held.
Bexar County Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert, who charged county staff last year with opening a Military & Veterans Services satellite office at Wayland Baptist University-SA, provided the Opening Remarks during the ceremony.
WBU-SA Executive Director/Campus Dean Dr. Glenn Simmons and Bexar County MVSC Executive Director Keith W. Wilson, United States Army (Ret.) also gave remarks about this great partnership.
Approximately 35 organizations that provide veteran benefits, healthcare, medical, housing, and food assistance, disability rights, homebuying, workforce reintegration, and community resources provided information to participants.
Visitors can tour the Bexar County satellite office provided by WBU-SA for claims assistance and workforce integration. Eligible residents can submit claims to the VA for injuries or illnesses while on active duty and receive employment-transition advice weekdays by appointment.
