With the Farmers’ Almanac predicting another frosty winter, Meals on Wheels has decided to take action. This Saturday January 22nd from 8:30-11:00am, able San Antonio residents are encouraged to volunteer for what will be MOWs largest distribution ever. They are working to deliver winter storm kits equipped with five shelf-stable meals that include items such as cans of chili, beef stew, vegetables, juice boxes, cereal bars, and peanuts. The kits will also include hand warmers and emergency mylar thermal blankets.
This is a one-time, emergency preparedness Winter Storm Kit that will be disbursed to 4,500 San Antonio residents. Of course, they cannot do it without your help. They are asking for 450 volunteers to help distribute these kits. If you would like to help or donate, please go to www.mowsatx.org or call (210) 735-5115. Of course, COVID-safety measures will be in place and volunteers don’t even need to get out of their cars when they pick up the items. Pickup location is 13420 Nacogdoches Rd. San Antonio, TX 78217. This special distribution event is made possible by lead sponsor Valero Energy Corporation, Blue Cares and the San Antonio Police Officer’s Association, SWBC Foundation, and Silver Eagle Beverages.
