The mural is a commemorative project which pays homage to the lives and music of Randy Garibay, Clifford Scott, Rocky Morales, Felix Villarreal, Manny Castillo, Eva Garza, Doug Sahm, Valerio Longoria, Lydia Mendoza, and Rosita Fernandez. The mural has gone on to be a highly visible and emblematic representation of San Antonio music and culture as well as an iconic presence at the West Commerce Street gateway to the Westside of San Antonio.
The mural was completed in 2009. Over the last 10 years, San Antonio’s weather has caused it to fade significantly. Amid unprecedented new development pressure, this iconic and culturally relevant artwork is now in desperate need of restoration. The mural restoration project will preserve a creative, cultural, communal and inspiring work of public art. It has already garnered the support of Google Fiber, UTSA, and Weston Urban, and is a partnership between San Anto Cultural Arts, La Printeria and La Prensa Texas. .

With your help, this project will make a significant impact on preserving this Westside treasure and our legacy bilingual print publication. It would mean so much to have your financial support toward this lasting cultural preservation mural collaboration.
