Virginia B. Gonzalez, age 75, of San Antonio TX passed away on Sunday, January 28,2024. Virginia was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 8, 1948, to Cleto E and Blanca P Barrera. She was the beloved wife of Pedro L Gonzalez Sr. God rest his soul and loving mother to Jose Ortegon Jr, Sylvia Sanchez, Pedro L Gonzalez Jr (Corine), Rebecca Gonzalez and Edward B Gonzalez (Sarah). Virginia loved all of her (10) grandchildren and (15) great-grandchildren which meant the world to her. She especially cherished spending time and creating memories with them.

Virginia was a strong, amazing colorful woman with many talents, who loved to help everyone in need. Some of them were total strangers that she had met in a line somewhere. She loved being in the medical field and guided many into that same career path. She was an excellent cook; her homemade sweet tea and tortillas were legendary. She loved to sing oldies and go out dancing with her husband. She respectfully left her medical career. So, she can focus on her health and family. She loved traveling especially to the casinos with her husband, children, family and friends.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Cleto E. Barrera (father) Blanca P. Barrera (mother) Pedro L. Gonzalez Sr (husband) Leroy O. Sanchez, Jr. (grandson), Leroy Sanchez Sr. (son-in-law), Guadalupe B. Perez (sister), Cleto P. Barrera, Jr. (brother), Ramon P. Barrera, Sr. (brother), Venus Barrera (sister-in-law), David P. Barrera Sr (brother), Sylvia B. Fuentez (sister), Tony Cruz (brother-in-law), Humberto Delagado, Sr. (brother-in-law), Gregorio P. Barrera (brother), Mary Helen Davis (niece), and Danny Delgado (nephew).
She also left behind her brothers and sisters to cherish her memory; sisters Elida Ortegon, Clara Delgado, Maria de la Luz Cruz “Lucy”; Carmen Barrera (sister-in-law), Santiago P Barrera Sr (brother) Ricardo P Barrera (brother) Joe Fuentez (brother-in-law) Rachel Barrera (sister-in-law) along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was deeply loved and will be extremely missed by all her friends and family members. Please continue to pray for her as she is now with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Visitation to take place on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary to begin at 6:00pm. Family and friends will depart in procession at 8:30am on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 for a 9:00am Funeral Mass at St. Timothy Catholic Church. Burial to follow at 11:00am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
