N.M., Rudolfo Anaya began working on his first and most famous novel, “Bless Me Ultima” in the ‘60s. The novel brought national attention to Latino literature and Anaya to the forefront. Today, the novel is in more than 20 printings and is studied in university English classes throughout the country. He is the author of a variety of short stories, plays, screenplays and other novels and the recipients of numerous awards including the Premio Quinto Sol Award. An accomplished writer, he introduced readers to the world of Chicano literature. His greatest contribution has been in opening the doors for other emerging Hispanic writers.
