Tonight, I received a call asking who the sheriff thought he was launching an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Gov. Ron DeSantis’ choice to transport a group of migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard. The caller noted that our sheriff is a democrat and De Santis is a republican and this was the reason behind this investigation. “The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation into the migrants that were lured from the Migrant Resource Center, located in Bexar County, TX, and flown to Florida, where they were ultimately left to fend for themselves in Martha’s Vineyard, MA,” the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office tweeted. Do you think that the Sheriff is doing this for political reasons or humane reasons? Does it matter? Let’s talk about it… #letstalkaboutit
Linda Grimes Holcomb: “Good job Sheriff! We need to stand up to these abuses of taxpayers resources & political stunts at the expense of vulnerable people! They were LEGALLY seeking refuge.”
Lonnie Bradley: ”I don’t know what if anything the migrants were told, but then again I don’t really care. They came here illegally and I would rather see them flown back where they came from. But it definitely smells like a political move, based on a political move to highlight an international problem at the border.”
Luis Barrios: “BRAVO! for your opinion on CNN about legally employing those who came here for a better life, so that they pay taxes and contribute to the US economy!”
Frank Burton : “Yeah, could be kidnapping among other things. It was a douchebag move but what can you expect with everything else they keep sprouting. They also spent about $11k per person to get them there. Who’s pockets did the money go into?”
Todd Forbes: “The timing of this stinks to high heaven! If this was truly about human rights then we would have seen action long ago when the federal govt was transporting people in secret in the middle of the night- Come on folks! This has political written all over it- But the good news is that we now can see who the rats are! This country is on the wrong path and if you don’t vote to change that path- …. Then you really don’t care about America- MAGA is not tied to a political party- all Americans should be wearing that hat !!! Otherwise get a one way ticket to anywhere outside the US! I don’t care where . Just go!”
Tina Rivera: “Asylum application is legal. Jesus! You people are ignorant of this country’s laws.”
Dawn Dixon West: “One of the best governors in the US! Gov. Ron Desantis cares about the American people and shows his compassion with all he does to serve the great state of Florida!”
Michelle Alt: “Thank you Sheriff Javier Salazar! You are upholding the law! People need to remember this and forget about all the politics, no matter what side they are on. What was done was inhumane, plain fact! If this was done to any other illegals from any other countries, people wouldn’t feel this way. In fact, why don’t anyone who has family immigrate from another country raise their hand! (A different time and place, I’m sure. Things were different and these people were just trying to do what was right by their families. Put yourself in their shoes for once). If people are Christians of any kind, I can’t believe they would even consider being against you. There are over 100 verses alone speaking of helping our fellow man. ‘Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.’ Again, good on you Sheriff, no matter what anyone says!”
Jennette Nadeau: “To think, I’ve somewhat supported you these past couple years but now you want to open an investigation into migrants taking a free trip to Martha’s Vineyard… instead of helping close our borders, instead of our local crime rate, instead of the innocent killings, instead of the drugs pouring into our city, etc. This is a political stunt and you’re an embarrassment to our county/city!!”
Debra LeBleu: “Are we going to sue our current administration for the 2 MILLION they’ve bussed everywhere???”
Victoria Jeronimo: “Please focus on our issues here Mr. Salazar.”
Joyce Townsend: “Thank you for stepping up. You are appreciated.”
Jpm Property: “Please please be diligent in your attempt to find the truth, the reason and the cause for that evil governor in Florida to do the Despicable act that he did against another human being. Be thorough and fair in your investigation of the Florida governor Ron DeSantis. If it is found that he has done anything illegal I think he should be treated like any other lawbreaker. Even to arrest him with extreme prejudice, we have to show no man is above the law. You can see what happens when people like our past president have broken the law and have not been treated like any other lawbreaker. It gives the momentum to keep breaking the law because they have no fear of extreme prejudice. Extreme prejudice, no fanfare, no press conferences. Just arrest him and make him go through the processes that any other criminal found guilty should do. It makes no sense to investigate if you do not prosecute and jail if your findings are true to his crimes.”
Julie Kinzer: “Looks like this “sheriff” is looking to make a name for himself…it’s a shame that you picked the wrong side to do that!”
Mary Zippy Fierro McAlpine: “Mr. Salazar, when the President (or whomever decided) to fly plane loads of “migrants” on early morning (0 dark thirty) flights to different parts of the country, did they have a plan for housing, jobs and shelter for them when they landed or did you investigate that, as well? Your selective outrage shows your ignorance and agenda. Get real!”
Gary Johnson: “Do your job. What laws were broken? How about Biden transporting migrants all over the country?”
Mary Beth Klein: “I’m disappointed I voted for you. You’re not sure there is a statute he broke, but are investigating it because you don’t like it? They all signed consent forms and went voluntarily. Spend your time protecting Texas.”
Shawna Price-Theriot: “Just yesterday, I posed the question of who had the guts to call these “leaders” out for trafficking humans. Glad you do. Thanks for giving them a voice.”
