On a historic Monday, President Donald Trump took a significant step in reshaping U.S. immigration policy by signing an executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship. This move marks one of the first official actions of his presidency and signals a broader effort to address what he terms a “disastrous invasion” of the United States. The executive order clarifies that the federal government will no longer automatically recognize birthright citizenship for children born to illegal immigrants within the country. This measure has been a topic of intense debate and legal scrutiny, and Trump himself acknowledged the potential for controversy, anticipating imminent legal challenges to the order. By asserting that “all illegal entry will be immediately halted,” Trump emphasized his administration’s commitment to reversing longstanding immigration norms.

Cathy Casto Morrissette: “He can’t just change the Constitution.”

Karla Myers: “All of his children are anchor babies. They should leave along with Melania and her parents. Elon Musk needs to be deported!”

Ian McIntosh: “He’s taking it back to how the founders wanted citizenship. If the parents are foreign nationals, their child born here is the nationality of the parents. That’s the way it should be.”

Charai MsPhotogenic Payne: “If this is the case, none of us are supposed to be here.”

Norma Kelso: “If anyone can save this country, it’s President Donald Trump…after all the Democrat devastation! Great leader that deserves our utmost respect!”

Martha Millican: “This should have been done fifty years ago.”

James Castro: “This one is very controversial. I believe most countries in the world have birthright citizenship. Now, this country has been taken advantage of in this case.”

Janie Matheny Duckworth: “Birthright Citizenship has always been a privilege. When illegal immigrants abuse this privilege and suddenly we find ourselves, as a country, unable to care for our own veterans and homeless families, then that privilege becomes a burden to our nation and needs to be revoked and rewritten. We can’t take care of the world if we can’t take care of our own people.”

Kay Aliko: “Parents have to be citizens of the US for their children to be citizens. Makes sense to me! For those who are upset about the immigration laws Trump is enforcing or trying to fix, take a look at other countries. The US isn’t the only country trying to impose rules. But for some reason, the US is under the most scrutiny for it.”

Jafet E. Varela: “Well Sir, not that fast. There will be a challenge in Federal court as this goes against the US Constitution. Congress has to propose an Amendment and it will require 2/3 of both Houses or States to petition a Constitutional Convention (at least 34 States legislatures). So right now your executive order would be unconstitutional. I say let’s follow the law. I mean he isn’t a king right!!!!”

Fredy Sancho: “Voted for him but this one is wrong.”

Barbara Saville Rupp: “I understand why he is doing this. I support him 100 percent! Amazing, very smart man who loves his country and his people.”

Teresa Wheelock: “People are so sketchy.  Fly here on ‘vacation’ so the baby can have American citizenship … IT SHOULDN’T BE LEGAL”

Victor Mejia: “How would this be if this would happen when Indians were here first. This is so crazy ..taking a land whose only owner is GOD ..”

Paul Huddleston: “This is necessary, people take advantage of our country.”

Pablo Ortega: “Too many bad people are using this loophole.”

Jesse Susan Strickland: “Mixed feelings. If it was only added to the constitution in 1898, then I really have no problem with it being back to not considering them citizens, especially if they are here illegally. Women come to this country already pregnant and have their “anchor” baby here and they get every entitlement they can pay for with our tax dollars when they illegally came into this country. How is it worded by our original forefathers in the constitution (A link would be nice)? Most of us were children, grandchildren etc to immigrants. But the key to this is being in this country legally or illegally.”

Kevin Mulvaney: “Wouldn’t that put him in that category?”

Mary Salyer: “It’s part of the 14th Amendment. He can’t do that without changing the Constitution. Think about it, people. Our Constitution was written to prevent one person acting as a monarch. Which is exactly what Trump is attempting to do. It will take more than his pen stroke to change this.”

Diane Sharp-Ranne: “I don’t believe he can. It’s in our constitution. He cannot revoke your birthright.”

Jessica Cox: “I agree! End birthright citizenship. I’m an American expat in Europe, I gave birth in Belgium. My daughter did not get Belgian Citizenship because neither my husband or I are Belgian citizens. Most countries do not have birthright citizenship and the US should end it.”

Linda May Knellinger: “I am so happy to see you sitting there doing this. I knew it was going to happen cuz you’re going to make it great again for all of us and there’s credit cards they gotta bring that interest down. That is disgusting. I’m trying to pay mine off but it’s been hard. Thank you Trump for all that you do for us. I appreciate it. Believe me when I tell you I love you and your family and God bless you all.”
