AUSTIN, TEXAS, JULY 31, 2020

WHAT: Starting today at 3:30pm CDT, The American Red Cross Serving Central and South Texas is launching a week-long Disaster Preparedness Series for Children on our Facebook page ((https://www.facebook.com/RedCrossCSTR/and Twitter page (https://twitter.com/redcrosscstr)

The series will help provide parents and teachers with information to prepared children for a disasters such as hurricanes, floods or fires. The series will cover our children’s Monster Guard App, “Prepare With Pedro” and The Pillowcase Project.

We will offer an interview opportunity with licensed mental health professional, Mary Roy, a Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Lead Volunteer who specializes in child therapy. Ms. Roy will address the reasons children should be prepared before a disaster strikes and how parents and teachers can best achieve that. Ms. Roy will also discuss the psychological stress that is relieved when children are given the tools of preparedness before a disaster strikes.
